Admission to Communion

Why? In order to acknowledge the reality of their discipleship, Richmond Team Ministry admits children to Communion from the age of about 7. This means that your child can take Communion before being confirmed.

How? First Communion is not a substitute for Confirmation. Those admitted to First Communion will still need to be confirmed later on in order to participate at every level of the Church’s life. If your child wishes to be admitted to First Communion, please contact one of the clergy. He or she will need to have been baptised (which, if necessary, may happen at the same service, or earlier), and should be a regular worshipper at one of our churches. Preparation involves a short course of instruction.

When? The service of admittance to First Communion usually takes place in early summer.
