Costs and Fundraising Ideas
How will we pay for it?
To ensure this trip is fair for everyone, we will work together and individually to fundraise. All money raised and donations from friends, family, churches or funds will be gathered centrally in a special account called India Relief.
We have pledged to give at least 10% of all money gathered directly to Deep Griha for the work of the charity, and whatever we raise above and beyond our costs.
Estimated Cost
We think that the trip will actually cost about £750 each. This will include flights, accommodation, all travel within India, all food and entry fees.
This is to give you an idea of how much we need to raise each.
What to do with the Money
Cheques should be made payable to 'India Relief.'
India Relief is a specially created Community Directplus account with the Co-operative bank. All transactions except deposits require two signatures.
Fundraising Ideas
To get you started, here are some ideas. You will have your own ideas too. Some of these events we can do together, and others you might like to try out yourself.
One young person is designing a computer game for us, and another is writing music. What can you do?
- Do a sponsored event!
- Host a 'Diminishing Lunch' (letters included in this pack)
- Invite people to a Curry Party for a donation
- Get your household to fill a Pringles tube with coins and loose change. Pringles tubes to be given out in the Team service on 25th November. We need help decorating them!
- Ask for donations to India Relief instead of Christmas presents!
- Hold a cake sale or garage sale
- Organise a competition (e.g. photography competition) with an entry fee
- Auction yourself for a day to the highest bidder!
