A special concert, “Upon A Ring Of Bells” is taking place at Richmond on Saturday 16th November as part of the St Mary Magdalene 800th Anniversary celebrations.
“Upon A Ring Of Bells” is a celebration of bells of many kinds in poetry, prose and music presented by The St Martins Singers, directed by Charles Talbot with readers Moir Leslie and Michael Lumsden.
The Saint Martin Singers began in 1942 as a group of firewatchers at St Martin- in – the -Fields getting together to sing on the quieter nights.
The Revd (later Prebendary) W D Kennedy-Bell conducted the choir for 50 years and compiled many of their distinctive programmes of music and readings.
Themes include, The Glory of the Garden, The Food of Love, A Time to be Born (for Advent), Summer is a Coming in, Mothers and Bells which was the obvious choice to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of our church.
Do come if you can. Free Entry with Retiring Collection (towards the Church and its mission partners, including Glass Door)
