As part of Richmond Team Ministry we strive to be an open and inclusive church community which welcomes everyone – those whose spiritual journey has been long, and those who are only just beginning their quest. We believe that each one of us is created in God’s image and that we are called to encounter God not only as individuals, but also together in community with others.
St. John’s liturgical style is Anglo-Catholic, with traditional hymns, psalms and anthems. Combined with the art and architecture of the church, we hope that our worship services will engage the senses, nourish spirituality and inspire both faith and imagination. The sermons usually explore the significance of the Bible readings and/or the theme of the day in the context of our everyday lives in the modern world.
We have a keen and loyal group of children and young people who often join in Junior Church sessions in the narthex, rejoining the congregation for communion.
There is a community group – Eaglets – for parents, carers and toddlers on Tuesday afternoons between 2.00-4.00 p.m.
There is a great deal of congregational participation on Sundays and in the week: welcomers; altar servers; helping in Junior Church; choir members; readers; intercessors; serving refreshments after services; cleaning; pastoral visiting… You are warmly invited to make your own contribution to the life of St. John’s in these and other ways.
